The story starts in 2004 with three boardriders , who were faced with bland designs and ridiculous prices pouring into the surf, snow & skate marketplace, include the dissatisfaction of working for idiots. These friends started throwing around ideas, designs and dreams of a company with an ethos that makes every worker a part of the business. These ideas, dreams and designs evolved into reality and through 2004 pen to paper, fingers to keyboards, IAMWHY grew. In 2005, the rosy bubble burst with the onset of accountant’s fees and IAMWHY was officially born. One partner dropped out for his own reasons, the other two carried on.

It has been a burn & learn couple of years, with us making stupid, honest mistakes, realising that it’s not easy to create a brand, watching your brand develop, taking a viewpoint on environmentally issues.

It really does evolve in front of you. Believing in your brand, being passionate about your brand, being your brand, growing your brand has to be at the same time the most tiring, the most rewarding, the most draining and the most uplifting experience.

It certainly does not make you rich. It gives you grey hairs, endless hours of work, gone are the spontaneous holidays and the long lazy Sundays. In return it gives you a sense of fulfilment, pride, loyalty. It yours to share. IAMWHY, because I am.

The IAMWHY 2009 range is designed by boardriders for boardriders. We print every item to your order, each garment is individually printed by Mike or myself. We use a manual printing machine, this means every item printed will be slightly different from the previous one, making it unique for each customer.

We source environmentally friendly suppliers and fairwear suppliers whenever possible to promote ethical trade. 90% of the 2009 IAMWHY range is fairwear & environmentally friendly, which we are quite proud of.

The IAMWHY range has styles to suit all needs from washed hoodies to longsleeve tees, vintage tees to urban style shirts and vest for men, the ladies range consists of halternecks, vests, vintage tees, longer length tees, different necklines and washed hoodies.
